Medicine Check Up
BP Pharmacies have launched a new service known as Medicine Check Up (MCU) in
December 2007. This service is born out of our concern for patients who are
often in the dark about their medications. You should know more about the
medications you are on, including any side-effects and warning signs suggesting
the unsuitability of the medication or any detrimental drug interactions.
Regular medicines review is also highly recommended for the elderly and those
taking medicines on a regular basis for a long-term condition.
BP Pharmacies will help you overcome any uncertainties about your medications.
What is a medicines check up?
It is a service for you to meet up with
our pharmacist and discuss the medicines you are taking. Our highly trained
pharmacists will review your medications, assess how well they are working for
you and enlighten you about your medicines and health. We encourage a two-way
discussion and welcome any queries regarding your health and your medications.
Through a patient-pharmacist partnership, you will get the best medicines and
proper advice for your health. This discussion will be strictly confidential.
Records will be kept for follow-up purposes and should there be any suggested
interventions, our pharmacists will provide you with a referral letter to your
prescribing doctor.
Signing up for a medicines check up is easy. Just contact our pharmacists
via phone or email. You may also sign-up on a walk-in basis, but this is
subjected to the availability of the pharmacist. For your first appointment,
please bring along all your medications (including supplements) for
identification.
Travel Health
|
Holidays are more enjoyable when they are hassle-free and illness-free. We cannot foresee or prevent unwanted incidents, but we can overcome or lessen our problems with proper planning and by taking preventive measures. Since health issues are unavoidable, it is good to be well-informed about your travel health before going abroad.

Traveling & medication
|
Basic healthcare measures can allow us avoid or deal with common ailments during travel. Most of us are unaware about the possible ailments of travel and come unprepared without the necessary medications. Should the traveler encounter illness abroad, he or she might face the challenge of communicating with a foreign healthcare professional and obtaining appropriate treatment.
|
At BP Pharmacies, we offer advice on keeping healthy during travel. We also provide comprehensive counseling on your medications especially for those with a medical condition such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma or even pregnancy. Our team of healthcare professionals have tailored for you the BP Travel Kit, which ensures that the common ailments of travel such as travel sickness, diarrhea, jet lag and other conditions does not spoil your holiday.
Traveling & vaccination
Vaccination before traveling to certain destinations is essential to ensure an enjoyable journey. Everyone is encouraged to complete a course of these vaccinations. It is best for traveler to plan vaccinations about eight weeks before the departure date. Recommended vaccinations such as Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Typhoid, Meningitis etc are available at BP Pharmacies. You may pre-book a vaccination appointment at any outlet to discuss your immunisation requirements with our doctors.
|
It is also important to note that vaccination does not offer protection against disease for life. Most vaccines require routine booster doses for continuous protection. Before you travel, ensure that you are still protected by performing a routine immunity blood test or obtain a booster jab from any BP Diagnostic Centres.
